FROM THE PUBLISHER’S REVIEW:

This book deals with the relationship between Porsche and Argentina, taking the first attempts of local industrialization as the starting point, which coincide with the birth of the German brand in Europe.  Ranging from the Cisitalia Type 360 and the small-sized cars manufactured under Porsche registered patents, to the powerful 917s in the Autódromo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, the history of our industry and the one of the Stuttgart brand have been running in parallel as of the last sixty years and they coincide in many aspects, thus showing the Argentinean’s passion for these cars.

The book features:

- The Graf Zeppelin in Buenos Aires.  The German dirigible was here in 1934, and a small story is told about that epic journey.

- Typ 360, The Cisitalia Grand Prix. Designed by Porsche in agreement with Piero Dusio´s firm, Cisitalia, the car was constructed in Italy, and after the bankruptcy of the Italian maker, the car cross the ocean towards Argentina, were the new firm of Dusio, Autoar, was starting business around 1951.  Unreleased pictures of the development, the tests, and its resurrection and discovery in late 60s by the Von Dory brothers.

- A special chapter of Argentinean cars that used Porsche engines its featured.  The IAME Justicialista, developed by Juan Domingo Peron’s government, the Porsche–Teram, probably the unique car built out of Stuttgart with the authorization of Ferry Porsche, and finally de Zunder – Porsche, a small plastic – body sedan, built in Cordoba, Argentina.

- Several 550 Typ Porsches raced in Argentina in sport cars events, but chassis 550-12 stayed in Buenos Aires after being a works car, and competing in the Carrera Panamericana of México.  The Czech Jaroslav Juhan was the importer, and several owners kept racing the car in Buenos Aires for almost 30 years!  The car won a sports car championship in 1982 with Eduardo Zampini Davies, and was still competitive in those days!

- The story of Kurt Delfosse´s half Porsche has a chapter on the book.  Constructed by this German engineer, the car was a Gordini Grand Prix chassis with an amidships Porsche 4 cam engine.  The car attended the Argentinean sports car races with great success for almost 15 years.

- A chapter on the importers and The Races in which the small 356 Porsches and the 550 started to compete in Argentina is as well included, with lots of period pictures.

- The 1000 Kilómetros de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires has a very special place, with lots of pictures of all Porsche that competed on that great race, including those of the seventies, with a complete statistics a lots of chassis numbers.

- The victory of polish Sobieslaw Sazada with his 911 S in the Gran Premio Standard of 1967, is shown in a special chapter.  That was probably one of the most important races won by a 911 S until that day.

- Argentineans racing with Porsche worldwide.  An interesting research of the races in which Argentine drivers took part all over the world.  The victory in Daytona 1959 by Mieres – Von Dory or the 12 Hours of Reims, won by Vianini – Estefano are covered, as many others.

- Finally, pictures of Juan Manuel Fangio driving the Behra–Porsche in Argentina are included, as well of those of American Masten Gregory driving the car for the CAMORADI team in the F1 race.
